Why is the Gibbs free energy of formation for O2 zero?

O2 is a naturally occurring compound.

The energy of formation for elements is zero because that is the naturally occurring compound in standard conditions.

Because 02 occurs naturally.

O2 is naturally occurring so its O. This is the same for H2 and N2
