Calculating E naught of the cell

Postby Cecilia Jardon 1I » Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:50 pm

Just to be clear, there are two ways to calculate e nuaght of the cell?
Its E naught of the cell= e naught of the cathode - e naught of the anode and the other one is using the reduction potentials?

There is only one way to calculate E that we have learned so far. The method involving the half reactions is a more descriptive way of the method using just the equation.

The second method just allows for more clear identification of the cathode and anode in order to avoid switching the order and confusing the two. Both accomplish the same thing.

I believe that Lavelle will ask for the half-reactions to be applied more for Test 2
