Test 2 Help

Postby Kenan Kherallah 2C » Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:38 pm

In class on Friday Dr. Lavelle said that he was finished covering everything we need for the test 2 but I see that we have not covered anything to do with equilibrium constants in relation to standard electrode potentials (section 14.8 in the 6th edition) with the formula: ln K = nrFE°/RT

On his website he says everything up to the nerst equation but we haven't covered this topic yet and I have my test on Tuesday so I'm just wondering if it will not be on the test since he said that we had already finished everything that will be on it on Friday.

I don't think the Nernst equation is included on Test 2

Either way we are covering the nernst equation on Monday so you could ask Ben because he is there at lecture.

According to his website, the nernst equation will not be covered in Test 2

He posted on his website and stated in lecture on Friday that the Nernst equation will not be on the test. All the content covered in class this week including Gibbs will be on the test.

I asked him about that equation after class on Friday and he says it is fair game because we can derive it ourselves from deltaG=-RTlnK and deltaG=-nFE but setting them equal to each other and dividing both sides by -RT.

test 2 is Gibbs free energy and electrochemistry up to but not including the Nernst equation
