in lecture, the professor showed a cell diagram with a little line labeled circuit
What is this? Like a copper wire that transmits electrons ?

Re: Cell diagram
essentially one line between means there is simply a porous disk which allows the solutions to mix, a double line means that the solutions are in different containers & are separated by solid walls that don't allow mixing but are connected by a wire that allows the transfer of electrons.

Re: Cell diagram
To add on, a single vertical line represents an interface between phases - reactant|product. And a Salt Bridge consists of a gel containing a concentrated aqueous salt solution in an inverted U-tube. This allows the ions to flow without affecting the concentration and is denoted by double lines ॥
