Schrodinger Equation

I really don't understand the equation itself. I know that you can find the wavefunctions by solving the equation but what does this actually mean?

For this class, it's important to understand more qualitative aspects about the Schrodinger equation. The wave function, , is a math function that represents a location for an electron. When you take the Hamiltonian operator of the wave function, that process provides the energy of the wavefunction. The actual process of performing the Hamiltonian operation on the wavefunction is not necessary for this class.
