## Free Energy is a state function?

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

Can someone explain why Gibbs Free Energy is a state function?

Gibbs is made up of enthalpy, entropy, and temperature values, all of which are state functions. If you have a combination of state functions, the result I guess is also a state function.

To add on, state functions are able to be added and subtracted which is how Gibbs energy is obtained between enthalpy, entropy and temperature values. State functions are also independent on the path taken to obtain that state.

The path doesn't affect the end value of free energy, so we can just add and subtract them up.

A state function - delta G can be added or subtracted - it doesn't matter what path is taken to get there, which is how we are able to use the three methods to calculate delta G.

Since Gibbs Free Energy is a combination of multiple state functions, the resulting function is also a state function.
