When using this equation, delta G = -nFEcell, how do you determine the value of moles (n)?

It most likely has to do with the coefficient in front of the substance used in the equation

In the equation deltaG = -nFE, n refers to the moles of electrons transferred. You can typically find this by breaking up an already balanced equation into its respective oxidation and reduction half-reactions or by balancing two known oxidation and reduction half-reactions. For example, in the Zn-Cu cell, the half reactions are: Zn --> Zn2+ + 2e- and Cu2+ + 2e- --> Cu, so there are 2 moles of electrons transferred.

It depends on the the oxidation and reduction half reactions and how many electrons are transferred. It is necessary to multiply by the correct coefficients to find the least common multiple between the two half reactions to determine the correct number of electrons that are actually transferred.
