### concentration cell

What do concentration cells mean? And why are they always 0?

### Re: concentration cell

Concentration cells are galvanic cells with same components (AgNO3 the example Lavelle gave us) but it only works when concentrations are different. The standard cell potential is always zero because the conditions of standard cell potential requires the concentrations to be at 1M, so the voltage is zero since there's no flow of electrons if its the same AgNO3 at 1M.

### Re: concentration cell

A concentration cell is a galvanic cell with both sides containing the same solutions at different molarities. The Eo is always zero because it is calculated using the standard reduction potentials of both sides which are the same because the solutions contain the same components.
