Writing Rate Laws

Why are products never included in rate laws?

Maybe it is because when we are looking at reaction rates, we are looking at initial concentrations, when a reaction first starts. At this point in time no products have been formed, so they would not be included in the rate law, since they are not affecting the rate.

Products are not included in the rate law because it looks at the initial concentrations when there are no products formed.

Rate laws only focus on the reaction hence why only the concentrations of the reactants matter.
