Re: molecularity
When something is bimolecular, there are two species in the elementary step. When something is termolecular, there are three species in the elementary step.

Re: molecularity
The prefix simply denotes how many elements one begins with in the elementary step. I believe Dr. Lavelle, went over this in a chart during the last lecture.

Re: molecularity
The molecularity refers to the number of species in an elementary step, you can think of it as having to do with the number of reactants in the reaction

unimolecular refers to one species, bimolecular refers to two species, and termolecular refers to three species

Re: molecularity
The molecularity is based on the number of particles/molecules that will collide simultaneously as this reaction occurs. It's based on the number of species.

Re: molecularity
Molecularity is the number of molecules that take part in the rate-determining step. So depending on the prefix, it refers to how many species are in the reaction.

Re: molecularity
The molecularity states how many reactants are present in the elementary step of the reaction. So if there is : A+B or 2A, it is bimolecular
