Activated complex

Postby Kenan Kherallah 2C » Mon Mar 11, 2019 4:26 pm

Do we have to know how to draw the transition state (question 15.85 on 6th edition) on the final?

No, you will not be expected to know how to draw the transition states of reactions.

Since we are not focusing on chemical structures, we do not need to draw any transition states. What Dr. Lavelle did in lecture is a rough sketch of a transition state for the purpose of visualizing what bonds will be broken after reaching Activation energy threshold. For the final just understand the activated complex model and what will change it.

I am still unsure about what an activated complex model is. Could someone clarify?

I would assume we do not need to know it for the final
