Hello,
What will we be expected to know for the final with regard to functional groups? Should we be able to identify them in a complex molecule? Or should we just be able to name and draw them?
Thanks.

Re: Functional Groups
According to chem_mod on another post about functional groups on the final we should be able to identify the functional groups given the structure like we did in lecture today.

Re: Functional Groups
If you are able to draw the Lewis structure of molecules and know what to look for within the structure to determine the functional group, you should be set.

you should be able to look at a complex molecule and identify which functional groups are in it

Re: Functional Groups
Yes, functional groups will be on the final. We'll most likely have to name the functional group based on a given molecular formula or structure.

Re: Functional Groups
Should we remember all of the functional groups mentioned in the slide in lecture?

All of these posts date back to last year so I don't think this applies to our 2019 final.
