A bomb calorimeter is a closed system since it can't absorb or release energy from/to the surroundings and it also can't gain or lose mass to the surroundings. :)

Volume is constant in a bomb calorimeter, and usually pressure and temperature change when combustion occurs within the bomb calorimeter. The heat released is thus taken up by the calorimeter.

So, if volume does not change, then work is equal to zero in a bomb calorimeter, right?
