Frequency

What's the relationship between frequency and difference in energy levels? Do they both increase, decrease, or either one increases or decreases?

I think that the frequency is directly proportional to the difference in energy levels. They both increase or decrease together; you can tell from ΔE = hv.

Also speaking of frequency, is frequency always measured in terms of Hz?

Yes, the unit used for measuring frequency is Hertz (Hz), which is the same as (s^-1).

Energy is directly proportional to frequency according to the equation E = hν. So, the trend in increasing energy matches the trend in increasing frequency.

Frequency is proportional to the Energy. So, as the frequency (Hz) increases, so does the Energy (J).

According to the equation E = hv, we can conclude that Energy (E) is directly proportional to frequency (v). If frequency (v) were to increase, then the Energy (E) would also increase and vice versa.

As the energy level (n) increases, the energies of successive levels increase. The electron has the highest energy level when it is about to escape the atom. Therefore, the energy is low when n is low, and the energy is high when n is larger.

When the energy difference is higher, more energy is emitted from the electron. This also means the frequency is higher, because it takes more energy to create a wave of higher frequency. Think of it like trying to make waves by shaking a rope. If you move your hands faster and increase the frequency, it takes more energy.

Frequency and Energy are directly proportional to one another. This is because E= hv therefore the change in Energy must also be directly proportional. A higher frequency means a higher energy. This is why UV light has high frequency and high energy.

Light with a higher frequency has higher energy because there are more photons being transfered per cycle with a higher frequency, and the energy in light comes from photons.

Frequency and energy are directly proportional in that when frequency increases so does the kinetic energy. This causes electrons to be ejected.

I also believe frequency and the difference in energy levels are directly proportional, since the equation E=hv proves that as frequency increases, energy increases as well.

Energy is directly proportional to frequency, the formula as given above in some other comments E=HV reveals that correlation.

The SI unit for frequency is Hz (s^-1). However, 1 divided by any unit of time can be used to measure frequency (ex: 1/hr). These are often not seen though because it is impractical for chemistry.

The idea of frequency and energy being proportional is also demonstrated by Bohr's frequency condition (v = delta E/h) which states that only light with certain frequencies (and by extension certain energies) will be absorbed.
