How to find my posts
Hello professor,
I posted a question to chemistry community yesterday however I am unsure how to check to see if anyone has replied to it or how to find my original question. I was wondering if you could tell me. Thank you.

Re: How to find my posts
There are several ways.
One is look in the topic section of your post.
Another is click on your user ID and then click on "Search user’s posts" and all your posts are listed.
Then click on your post of interest to see subsequent posts by others.

Re: How to find my posts
How do I create a new post? All I know is how to "Post Reply". Also, how do I change my username to include this quarter's discussion section and not the old one from last quarter in 14A?

To change your username, go to the main page or any page on chemistry community, and at the top next to "Quick Links" and "FAQ" there's a link that says "Register Alias and Password (Only available to students enrolled in Dr. Lavelle's classes.)" and that will direct you to a page for changing your username. You would input your name and discussion section next to "Register Alias." Hope that helps.

If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B. You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name)

You can click "Quick Links" on the left hand corner of your screen. A list will appear, then click "Your Posts"

Re: How to find my posts
I believe you can also just search your username in the search bar and any of your posts/threads you added on to should show up! Let me know if that works for you guys.
Re: How to find my posts
Anything that Professor Lavelle posts (other than answers to questions) can be seen in the announcements section. It's also important to note that he sends out any important information by email and announces it in class as well.
Re: How to find my posts
You can go to "Quick Links" in the top left corner then press "your posts" and it will take you to all of your posts and you can select the one you want. It also shows you how many people have viewed it and responded to it on the right side.
Re: How to find my posts
How can I create a new topic? The only way CC allows me to post is if I am replying in an existing thread, but I have some questions where I would want to create a new topic.

Re: How to find my posts
I just want to be clear, so there is no way to get notifications if Professor Lavelle has posted anything?
Re: How to find my posts
Class Announcements is the place the look to see if Lavelle has posted something. If it is super important though, he will probably just mention it in lecture.

If you go to the words "Quick links" in the upper left corner, the drop down will provide you with the option "Your posts" and they are all organized there.

Re: How to find my posts
If you click on your account it should show you your post. Also if you had replied to someone there is a section that shows you how many times you have posted. If you click that it will should you all of your posts.

I believer you can have email notifications, but I'm not sure how practical that would be.

After you post you can also see the number of posts you have made next to your ID if you need to keep track.

Re: How to find my posts
the quick links tab works best for me and it gives you the number of posts you put up and the comments people wrote after you.

Re: How to find my posts
Hi, I was wondering how I can post a question on my own topic? I'm not quite sure how this works. I can only find the way of posting a reply (like I am doing now) but I am unsure how to create my own post with questions. I would appreciate if someone can help. Thanks! :)
Re: How to find my posts
If you want to create a new post, you would click on a sub topic located on the board index under 14B.
You can then click "New Topic" in the upper left hand corner (under the subtopic name).
You have to be reading a specific sub-topic to be able to create a "New Topic".
If new posts were allowed anywhere then how would the software know where (under a specific topic and sub-topic) to post it.

Is there a way to access the lecture powerpoints because I wanted to screenshot one of the images and print it out for reference in my notes.

Yes, you go to the top right and click on your username->click on control panel->click on overview->go to the bottom of the page and it should say something like "My Posts."

From my understanding, Dr. Lavelle hasn't commented on where to retrieve any of the lecture power points. Your best bet will be to neatly write them out and taking a picture. Or if you do not have them ask someone who has taken great notes on the week's lecture you need!

You can find your grades on the study list on myUCLA. Next to each class is a link to your grades for that class.

I don't think you will get actual notifications, you just have to look on the class announcements page.

You can also post a comment and then scroll down to the comment you made and click on the number of posts you made and then it will tell you the date and time you posted.

Is there anyway to know how many times you posted or no? I post during the week and forget by the weekend how many times I have and when I go to see my posts if I posted in the same one twice it wont show me that.

Whenever you post something, there is a box on the right side of your post that has your information on it. Next to your name, there should be a number. By clicking that number, you can see all your posts, questions and replies, and can easily access all of your old work.
