Question about diffraction patterns

When classical particles hit a barrier with two or more holes, do the particles that pass through the holes give rise to an observed diffraction pattern?
Why is the correct answer "no" ?

If we're speaking on the subject of classical particles, they would not give rise to diffraction patterns when passing through the holes in the barrier since diffraction patterns result only from interacting waves. Since the particle is acting as a particle alone, it would not have diffraction patterns since it doesn't act as a wave; it would merely pass through the holes in a straight line.
