Mass of an Electron

In lecture and discussion, we learned that the mass of an electron is 9.109 x 10^-31 kg. Is this a set mass or can the mass of an electron vary from element to element?

This is a set mass. Electrons don’t gain or lose mass through any process. It is given to us on our constant sheet.

Electrons, protons, and neutrons all have a set mass that does not change from element to element. What changes the mass of elements is the number of protons and neutrons it has (electrons do not have a noticeable effect because their weight is so small that it is essentially negligible).

This is a set mass which will also be given as a constant on the test.

The mass of an electron, proton, and neutron is a set mass that is provided on the constants and equations sheet.

It's a set mass! So are the masses of protons and neutrons.

9.109 x 10^-31 kg is the set mass of an electron, and we recognize this as a constant. This goes alongside the masses for protons and neutrons, which are about 1.67 x 10-27 kg each. These masses are constants as well.

This is the set mass of the electron so it doesn't change.

Electrons should have the same mass in all the elements. The same goes for protons and neutrons. It is the number of each that affects the overall mass of the atom.

The mass of an electron will always be given to us, because it is a set mass.

It is on the formula sheet which holds many constant and equations that we will not need to memorize, but you do need to understand the uses of each and some even overlap.

The mass of an electron is constant. While the orbit they take can change between elements and orbital levels, electrons are still electrons and their mass remains constant.

Since the mass of an electron does not vary depending on the element, it is known to have a set mass of 9.109 x 10^-31 kg, which is also considered a constant.

Electrons in any element or whatever else they're present in all have the same size which is 9.10938356 × 10^-31 kilograms.

No, electron's mass can't change . It's set .
