Explaining Particle in a Box
I don't know if I just didn't label it down in my notes but I am not completely sure what this experiment entails. Would someone be able to explain particle in a box to me?

To my knowledge, you are not required to know the particle in the box experiment for the midterm. I wish I could explain the experiment, but I don't really understand it either

Hello,
For this experiment I think it's better to see it in a video rather than have it explained. Here's a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK60QAKooyM
Hope this helps!

Re: Explaining Particle in a Box
As mentioned already, I don't believe we'll need to know this for the test but the particle in a box model is typically used as hypothetical example to show the differences between classical and quantum systems. It details a particle free to move in a small space completely surrounded by barriers.

Re: Explaining Particle in a Box
The particle in a box is also used to help us visualize how the particle could move and what its limitations are.
