Midterm Exam

Postby 305086803 » Sat Oct 19, 2019 12:50 am

Hi everybody!

Do we know what the midterm is going to cover? Is it just going to be fundamentals and the quantum world?

Thanks!

From what I heard from my TA. It won't really cover fundamentals but will cover the quantum world and chemical bonding!

Hope that helps!

If it covers chemical bonding do you know when we will start learning this since the midterm is coming up?

I think he should start teaching it by the end of week 4, beginning of week 5

Is there going to be a curve for the midterm? Or is grade based on raw score?

I remember reading on the syllabus that this class does not use a curve, so I think all tests will be based on raw score.

The midterm should be everything from week one to chemical bonding

The syllabus mentions that the tests aren't curved.

The midterm should cover weeks 1-5, so fundamentals, quantum world, and chemical bonding.

On that note, does anyone know which topics will be covered which weeks? I expected to see weeks on the syllabus next to each new topic, but didn't notice anything like that.

I didn't see a calendar or anything. I think there should be a week or at least a couple days to review everything (which is like 3 topics?) before the midterm

No curve in the class so just your raw score from all assignments added up out of 500 I believe

If the class isn't curved, how many points are needed to pass the class? I remember reading something about using the class average at the end and needing at least 50% on the syllabus.

The test and exam schedule on the chem website shows that the midterm is gonna be on Wednesday, November 6, which is in Week 6, from 6-8 pm.

For Fall 2019, the midterm is November 6 from 6-8 and should cover week one through week five. I'm sure there will be review sessions to clear up any trouble areas!

How many questions will the midterm be? What type? (multiple choice/open ended)

I think the midterm will be mostly open ended questions, but not sure.

Is anyone in a study group that I could join for the midterm exam? It could be helpful to have peer input when trying to study for the midterm.

The midterm will mostly be open ended questions but I think there may be some multiple choice questions as well!

I think the midterm will be free response/open ended questions. If there are any multiple choice questions there will probably only be a few.
