What does the H mean?

What does the h with the dash mean? Is it the same as me just using h/4pi ?

Re: What does the H mean?

What exactly are you referring to? It could also mean H-atom

Re: What does the H mean?

No, the h-bar is just h(Planck's constant) divided by 2*pi

Re: What does the H mean?

The H bar is referring to plancks constant when using it in problems.

Re: What does the H mean?

If you're referring to the h with a line marked through it, it is planck's constant in the form of the Heisenberg indeterminacy equation that uses 2pi. I think Dr. Lavelle mentioned this was the equation used in the book. Use the one he taught in lecture because that is "where good chemistry happens."

The H refers to Planck's Constant, which is equal to 6.626 x 10^-34 Js.

H is planck's constant. If you are curious as to what it represents, it was the constant that was used to explain the blackbody radiation model because it accounts for energy that is quantized.

Re: What does the H mean?

The h with the dash through the stem is planck's constant divided by 2 times pi, which is equal to h/2π

Re: What does the H mean?

The h is Planck's constant, which is 6.626x10^-34 J*s.

Re: What does the H mean?

h is Planck's constant but h-bar is h/2pi
