Molecule Formulas

Postby David Zhang 1B » Tue Jul 16, 2019 8:26 pm

Will we always be given the molecular formula on tests? In the homework, we're sometimes given only the names of the molecule such as periodate ion (2C.3).

Yes we will be given the molecular formula unless it’s a question that wants us to find it like in test 1. The reason the textbook doesn’t write it out is because you have access to the book and can look it up in the book( or that is what I am assuming).

Molecular formulas will generally be given on exams unless a question refers to a simpler compound such as HCl (hydrochloric acid). However, you should be familiar with common, simple molecular formulas.

I think most of the time we will be given the formulas.

For the most part I think it will be given unless it is simple for us to figure out.

They should all be given, however I assume we would have to know simple molecules like water.
