Midterm
What content will the midterm be covering? Someone told me that the midterm goes up to the lecture of Friday 10/25 but I just wanted to clarify.

Re: Midterm
The midterm should cover the topics of Fundamentals, Quantum World, and some of Chemical Bonds.
Re: Midterm
Yes, as someone said above, I think it will cover Fundamentals, Quantum world, and some concepts of Chemical Bonds. I recommend you to attend midterm review sessions as they will go over concepts that we need to know for midterm!

Re: Midterm
I heard the midterm covers the fundamentals, quantum world, and chemical bonds, but try to focus more on quantum world.

It's posted online! But for recap, fundamentals to end of Focus 2D.

Re: Midterm
Today in the lecture, he said it would be on all the content from lectures up to Friday, November 1. Which covers fundamentals, quantum and almost all of chemical bonds.

Re: Midterm
Since we need to know the electronegativity differences to determine if there are ionic bonds or covalent bonds, will we be given on the midterm an electronegativity chart that shows each element's electronegativity or do we need to memorize them?

Re: Midterm
Yeah, he clarified today in lecture that it would cover all the material up to Friday of this week because of the campus closure on Monday. So it's Fundamentals, Quantum, and up to 2D on chemical bonds. We're not gonna have all of chemical bonds covered.

Re: Midterm
Would the midterm also be based on the Fundamentals as well since it was just a review of High school chemistry?

Re: Midterm
The midterm will cover Fundamentals (Review of Chemical & Physical Principles), The Quantum World, and Chemical Bonds (excluding 3F.4 and 3F.5). We will be tested on material up to this Friday, November 1, 2019. Regarding electronegativity, I think we just need to know the general trends, not specific values for each element. That would be quite difficult.

Re: Midterm
Aforementioned, the midterm covers the three main topics: Fundamentals, Chemical Bonds, and the Quantum World. So it's highly recommended to study those sections and do the review problems!
Re: Midterm
The midterm covers everything from fundamentals to 2D in the homework assignments and readings.

Also, Lavelle mentioned that most of the High School Review unit will not be on the test, since we already learned it. Expect heavy focus on quantum and chemical bonds up to 2D.

The midterm will include everything including Friday's lecture besides the last slide that was shown.

Re: Midterm
He mentioned in lecture that the midterm will only cover material up to section 2D, due to class being cancelled this past Monday.

the midterm will cover fundaments, quantum, and some early chemical bond material. Don't forget to bring your bruin Id that day.

Re: Midterm
It will be everything covered in lecture up until the very last slide on Friday's lecture. In other words, Fundamentals, Quantum, and some of Chemical Bonding. Hope this helps.
Re: Midterm
Do we need to memorize ions and ionic compounds for the midterm and other tests? Specifically will we have to identify the formula and charge of an ion/compound given the name?

Re: Midterm
He said everything he covered up to now will be on the midterm, (Outline 3, D). The only thing we don't have to worry about is the very last slide he presented on Friday.

Re: Midterm
The midterm will include outlines 1 and 2, and most of the curriculum from outline 3. It stops where the Friday lecture ended.
