Re: D Subshell
10. There are 5 orbitals in a d subshell. A maximum of 2 electrons can go in each orbital.

Re: D Subshell
The angular momentum quantum number for the d subshell is l=2, and its corresponding magnetic quantum numbers can have the values -2, -1, 0, 1,& 2 (5 in total). In each of these, there can be 2 electrons, which means that there are a total of 10 electrons that can be placed in the d subshell.

Re: D Subshell
The maximum number of electrons in the d-shell is 10. For the d-shell, l=2 so the magnetic quantum numbers are -2, -1, 0, 1, and 2. This means there are 5 subshells and since 2 electrons can fit in each subshell, there can be a max of 10 electrons in the d-orbital.

Re: D Subshell
The D subshell can hold 10 electrons because it has 5 orbitals, each holding a max of 2 electrons.

Re: D Subshell
A d subshell can hold a maximum of ten electrons since there are 5 orbitals, and two electrons can fit in each orbital.
Re: D Subshell
10 electrons. The d subshell has 5 orbitals, each able to hold one pair, or two electrons, adding up to a max of 10 e-.
