### Frequency vs. Velocity

When talking about light, are velocity and frequency the same thing?

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

the velocity of light is c -- a constant -- while frequency is variable depending on the wavelength

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

The speed of light is 3.0 x 10^8 m/s while the frequency can be determined according to wavelength.

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

The velocity of light is equal to the constant c, while we can find the frequency of light given it's wavelength.

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

velocity is measured in m/s and corresponds with c which is equal to 3.0 x 10^8 while frequency has units (hz or s^-1) and is obtained by dividing c over wavelength or by dividing energy by planck's constant (h-6.626 x 10^-34).

Is velocity of light always constant?

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

Yes, the velocity of light is always a constant, as far as we are concerned.

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

Frequency and velocity are not the same thing as frequency is obtained by dividing the speed of light over a give wavelength where as velocity is always a constant as "c" which is the speed of light.

### Re: Frequency vs. Velocity

Velocity of light is the same as speed of light, c=3.00x10^8 m/s. Frequency varies and can be found through given wavelengths and/or energy in a problem.
