When energy is absorbed, is the n value going up or down?

When energy is absorbed, Delta E is positive. This means the atom is going from a lower quantum energy state to a higher one. For example, going from n=1 to n=3.

When energy is absorbed the delta E is positive therefore goes from lower n to higher n.

When energy is absorbed, energy is positive
When energy is emitted, energy has a negative value

When energy is absorbed the system is gaining energy so that is a positive delta E going from a lower n to a higher n.

When energy is absorbed by an atom, it is receiving energy, so the change in energy is positive, causing an electron to become excited and move from a lower energy level (let's say, n=1) to a higher energy level (i.e. n=2).

When energy is absorbed, the value of n increases because it represents energy level.
