Electronegativity Exceptions

Postby Alvaro Chumpitaz 4D » Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:18 pm

Are there any exceptions to the electronegativity trend on the periodic table? And why not(compared to ionization energy)?

There are no electronegativity exceptions to my understanding. Electronegativity increases going up a family and also increases going down a period towards Fluorine.

Nope! The only notable "exception" in periodic trends that is of interest in our class is that oxygen's ionization energy>nitrogen's ionization energy.

The only exceptions are noble gases because they have a complete valence shell and don't tend to accept electrons.
