Can someone explain the difference between electron affinity and electronegativity? Thanks!

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
Electron affinity is the amount of energy released when an electron is added to an atom, or how much an “atom wants an electron.” Electronegativity is the level of pull an atom has an electron, in terms of pulling an electron towards it when in a covalent bond.

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
electron affinity is how much an atom wants an electron. electronegativity is how much an atom pulls an electron in a molecule.

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
Electron affinity is a quantitative property of atoms which describes their likelihood of gaining an electron. Electronegativity, on the other hand, is a qualitative property that describes the pull an atom has on electrons.

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
Electron affinity is the energy difference between a ground state atom and after the atom gets an electron. Electronegativity is the tendency or an atom to attract electrons. These two terms have the same trend on the periodic table, but electronegativity can be seen as taking an average of both ionization energy and electro affinity.

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
Electron affinity refers to the amount of energy released when an electron is added to an atom. Electronegativity, on the other hand, refers to how much an atom attracts electrons. So an easier way to think of it is electron affinity is how much they want electrons whereas electronegativity is how much they want to hog electrons.

Re: Electron Affinity and Electronegativity
Electron affinity is the amount of energy released when an electron is added to the neutral atom, mean while electronegativity is the tendency of an atom to attract an electron towards it.

Electron affinity is the energy released when an electron in added to to an atom, while electronegativity is how much an atom pulls electrons.
