Contribution of each structure?

Some resonance structures are really unstable and some are more stable. Is there a way to indicate the contribution of each RS to the molecule?

Wouldn't you just look at formal charges?

formal charge indicates stability (0 is best unless there is a distinct negative/positive charge on the molecule) but I don't think there's a particular way we need to know to find the contribution of each resonance structure? just understand that all structures contribute to an overall average (which is the most stable) I think.

I think that if you draw a Lewis Structure for the molecule, you will see that the atom that forms a double or triple bond with the central atom is contributing more electrons than the atom that is forming a single bond with the central atom.

To see which resonance structure is more stable, just look their formal charges, the one closest to 0 will be the most stable. I am not sure what do you mean by which RS contributes more to the molecule, because the resonance structure is just the moving of electrons between different atoms of a molecule.
