Shorter bond lengths

Why do more bonds lead to shorter bond lengths? Like why are double bonds shorter than single bonds?

It's because more electrons are involved in the bond so the pull is stronger bringing in the atoms closer together.

The bonds become shorter because there are more chared electrons in a double bond versus a single bond and the two atoms are closer togther.

More bonds lead to shorter bond lengths because shorter bonds are stronger because the force of attraction with more electrons involved is stronger.

It's because the more bonds, the closer the molecules will be pulled together.

We know that double bonds are shorter ands stronger than single bonds, and that triple bonds are even more so than double. But how do the length and strengths of these bonds effect the different energies?

I am going to echo what other people are saying on this thread. According to Coloumb's law, which is the formula that determines the strength of the force between two charged particles, as the charges increase, the strength of the attraction will increase. This means that the electrons will be held more tightly in between the nuclei and therefore the bond length will be shorter.

With more electrons being involved in the bond, the strength of the pulling attraction is stronger thus the bond length is shorter.

When there is a double bond, the attraction between the two atoms is stronger which pulls them closer together. Triple bonds pull the atoms together even closer because the attraction is stronger than a double bond.

The bond length between atoms with two or more bonds are shorter than those with single bonds. The more electrons, the stronger the pull is and the shorter the bond length is.

double bonds are shorter since the bonds are stronger and pull them closer together

Since there is a greater amount of electrons involved in bonding, the atoms are able to pull closer together, creating a shorter bond length.
