All VSEPR structures or just ones from class?
When you look up the full VSEPR char online, there are a total of 15 shapes. Some (like Bent and Linear) repeat. Should we know all of the ones on the chart or only the ones he went over in class for Test 2?

I believe we should just memorize all of them just in case, since you never know what could be on the test. Better memorize too much than memorize too little.

Lavelle usually only makes us memorize the ones he teaches in class, so I think knowing only the ones from class will be sufficient for our next test. However, to be safe I would memorize all of them just in case.

I would remember all of them just to be safe. My TA sent a chart he made with the shapes and there's more variations on there then we went over in class.

I think all of them have to be memorized. He just demonstrated how to determine the shapes of a couple molecules in class just as an example.

It is probably best to memorize all of the shapes just to be safe. However, the shapes can be figured with the basic geometric structures (no lone pairs) and then adding lone pairs in the locations of least repulsion. A drawn model may also help to visualize the shape of the molecule.

Memorize all of the shapes just to be safe! Pay attention to how he determined the shapes of the examples covered in class so you know how to do so.

I think it's best to memorize all of them. He just exemplified how we can figure out the shapes in lecture from the basic ones.

We should know all of the ones on the chart instead of only the ones Dr. Lavelle went over in class for Test 2. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Try not to memorize but to visualize all the VSEPR structures. Understand the mechanisms behind each structure and it'll be easier to remember all of them.

making flashcards based off one of the charts was very helpful for me.
