AXE Formula
Is the only way to determine a molecule's AXE formula to draw the Lewis structure? Is there any way to determine if there are lone pairs without drawing a Lewis structure?

Re: AXE Formula
I believe that drawing a Lewis structure is the best way to determine the AXE formula and see the lone pairs.

As far as the lectures that have covered VSEPR so far, I do not believe so. However if you are having trouble memorizing the shapes then I highly suggest making flashcards!

Re: AXE Formula
It's the best way, but you could draw it specifically to focus on the arrangements of bonds and lone pairs on the center atom because that's what AXE tracks anyway.
Re: AXE Formula
From what I've learned in PLF sessions, doing the lewis structures seems to be the best way.
