Re: test 2
I know we have to know the difference between sigma and pi bonds. I'm pretty sure I heard Dr. Lavelle say hybridization will not be on the test but I'm not sure. Here is a list of topics from my TA:
-VSEPR (determining shape)
-Use dipole moments to determine if polar or non polar
-use shame and polar/nonpolar to identify intermolecular interactions
-explain why lone pairs are more likely found in certain locations around central atom and how/why they affect bond angles
-distinguish sigma and pi bonds

According to my TA, the test is not cumulative. We will only be tested on everything after the midterm minus hybridization and other new stuff.

Hybridization is not on the test, but the pi and sigma bonds will be discussed about in a small section of lecture on Monday. They will be on the test.

According to our TA, Hybridization will not be on test 2. But the structures, shape, angles, and pi vs sigma bonds....will be on there.

Yes, Lavelle said that hybridization is not on the test but sigma and pi bonds are. It's also not cumulative, so it's all the material after the midterm up to tomorrow (11/18) but not hybridization.
