A polydentate ligand is a ligand that has multiple atoms with lone pairs that can be used to bond to a central metal atom.

Note that polydentate can refer to tridentate, tetradentate, etc (not mono- or bidentates). It depends on how many atoms in the ligand have lone pairs available.

Polydentate ligands are chelating agents with multiple atoms bound to a metal in a coordination complex.

A polydentate ligand is a ligand that coordinates to a metal center by two or more atoms, forming two or more bonds. Polydentate ligands range in the number of atoms used to bond to a central metal atom or ion.
