Does resonance have the potential to affect the way we name chemical compounds?

Re: Resonance and Naming
Resonance should not affect the way we name chemical compounds in this course.

Re: Resonance and Naming
Remember that resonance gives partial double bond characteristics to all surrounding atoms. No, it will not affect the naming.

Re: Resonance and Naming
No, because it is the same compound and resonance isn't reality. Reality is the intermediate of all the resonance structures.

Re: Resonance and Naming
Resonance should not affect how we name a compound. However, having different versions of the compound's composition (such as through cisplatin and transplatin) can affect naming of a compound.
