Difference between bronsted and lewis acid/base?

We don't neccessarily use one or the other to define them. A bronsted acid is a proton donor, and a bronsted base is a proton acceptor. A Lewis acid is a electron acceptor and a lewis base is an electron donor.

Not a single one is correct to define an acid or base, but you should know the difference between them.

My TA showed us in a table like this:
Acid Base
Bronsted : proton donor proton acceptor
Lewis : electron acceptor electron donor
Acid Base
Bronsted : proton donor proton acceptor
Lewis : electron acceptor electron donor

bronsted refers to an exchange of protons. Lewis refers to an exchange of electrons

I think you just need to understand the differences between a bronsted acid/base and a lewis acid/base. Bronsted acids are those that are proton donors and bronsted bases are proton acceptors. However, Lewis acids are proton acceptors and Lewis bases are proton donors.
