Bronsted Acid and base

Postby Matt Sanruk 2H » Thu Nov 28, 2019 6:17 pm

Can someone help clarify the definition of what a bronsted acid and a base is?

A Bronsted Base is a proton acceptor. In contrast, a Bronsted Acid is a proton donor.

A bronsted acid is a proton donor, so it loses H+. A bronsted base is proton acceptor, so it accepts H+.

A Lewis acid accepts an e- pair while a Lewis base donates an e- pair. Bronsted acids donate protons while bronsted bases accepts protons.

Bronstad acid and bases have to do with protons, while Lewis acids and bases have to do with electrons
