-bis, -tris, etc

I'm still confused on when we would use -bis, -tris, -tetrakis etc. Are there any examples of this that we'd be more likely to see on the final?

You use bis, tris, etc. when there is a greek prefix already in the name such as the di in ethylenediamine which is one of the examples we could see on the final.

We use bis-, tris-, etc. when the ligand's name already contains di-, tri-, etc, or when the ligand is polydentate.

To clarify for anyone reading the post, polydentate suggests that there is a greek prefix to the ligand name.

For example, ethylenediamine (as mentioned above) is a bidentate; you need to use the altered suffixes.

You use these suffixes when there is already a suffix in the name.
