HI is the stronger acid because the chlorine in HCL is more electronegative than the I in HI. The chlorine pulls in the electrons more and creates a stronger bond that is harder to break. Remember the stronger acid will have the weaker bond-- and strong acids fully dissociate :)

Strong acids tend to have weaker bonds because when bonds are more easily broken, protons are more easily given off, which is a characteristic of strong acids.

HI is stronger because Iodine is a larger atom, and therefore the atomic radius is larger. Because the radius is larger, the bond between them is longer and weaker, and H+ is easily lost to surrounding solution.

HI is the stronger acid as there is a weaker bond between HI than there is between HCl. This is due to both the atomic radius and the size of I vs Cl. Because I has a greater number of electrons, there is less nuclear charge felt at its valence electrons so, the HI bond is weaker and easier to break. Because the bond is easier to break it is a stronger acid as it will dissociate more easily.

HI, since I has a larger atom radius than Cl, HI has a weaker bond than HCl which makes HI dissociate completely very easily.

HI is a stronger acid because it has a longer bond length so its bond is weaker, thus it is easier for the bond to be broken to donate the H+ compared to HCl.

HI is more stronger because chlorine is more electronegative and will have a stronger bond. The weaker the bond the stronger the acid.

Is there a periodic trend in terms of this? Does this mean that HF is the weakest acid, then HCl, then HBr, then HI?

HI is stronger because the H-Cl bond is stronger than the H-I bond. A stronger acid needs to have weak bonds that are easily broken which allows H+ ions into solution.
