Naming Acids/ Bases
Should we know how to name acids/ bases for the final? For example when to use -ic versus -ous in an acid?

Re: Naming Acids/ Bases
I believe the -ic vs -ous depends on the composition of the anion. For nitric acid it is produced when a H+ bonds to the nitrate anion, and for nitrous acid it is produced when an H+ bonds to a nitrite anion. In general, an "ate" anion corresponds to an "ic" acid, and an "ite" anion corresponds to an "ous" acid.

Re: Naming Acids/ Bases
I believe we need to know some of the names of the common acids and bases but nothing too crazy.
