Re: bases
Strong bases are completely ionized in water and consist of alkali metal and alkali earth metal oxides (groups 1 and 2). Weak bases are not completely ionized in water like ammonia.

Re: bases
when given the equation, strong bases completely ionize so they only have a single sided arrow while weak bases have double sided arrows

Re: bases
Strong bases dissociate completely in water unlike weak bases which don't dissociate completely.

Re: bases
A strong base is a hydroxide or oxide of the Group 1 or Group 2 metals. It dissociates almost completely in water, producing a lot of hydroxide ions. It causes the pH to rise a lot. A weak base only partially dissociates and causes less of a change in the pH.

Re: bases
Strong bases dissociate completely in solution whereas weak bases do not. Typically, the reaction for a strong base has a single arrow indicating only a forward reaction, which makes sense since strong bases dissociate completely in solution.
