what are terminal atoms?
I read from the textbook that terminal atoms are not regarded as hybridized. (i.e. the Cl molecules in PCl5) What are the definition of terminal atoms? Thank you!
Re: what are terminal atoms?
It is any atom besides the central atom. So pretty much everything connected/surrounding the central atom.

Yeah, the central atom's valence shell has been hybridized in order to accommodate the electrons needed for a stable structure. The terminal atoms simply provided the electrons needed by the central atom.
