Hydrogen Bonding

Postby Wilson 2E » Fri Dec 06, 2019 2:12 pm

Is the formation of hydrogen bonds considered an interaction between an acid and base?

I do not think it is the same thing because hydrogen bonding is an intermolecular force, whereas with acids and bases, the molecule is changing and hydrogen is moved to a different molecule.

I also think that is a separate process, since hydrogen bonding is an intermolecular force.

I think it would just be considered an intermolecular force.

No it is not an acid base reaction.

No, its there is no actual bonding or transfer of electrons, its just that the polar sides are strongly attracted to each other

No, this is a type of intermolecular force. Not an acid and base reaction

hydrogen bonding is an intermolecular force between H- N, O, F

no, because it is an intermolecular force

No, it is simply an intermolecular force.

No, hydrogen bonding is a type of intermolecular force not a type of acid base reaction.
