Hydrogen bonding AND Dipole-Dipole?

Postby MKearney_4G » Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:32 pm

When we are writing out the IMFs between two molecules, isn't it redundant to list both Hydrogen bonding and D-D attraction if all of the dipoles are also forming H-bonds?

Yeah I personally think it is a little redundant, but I believe we are still required to write both.

It might be, but it's good to include both to demonstrate that there are other potential atoms involved besides H, N, O, F, etc.

Although it is redundant, it is still best to indicate that there are both hydrogen bonds and dipole-dipole forces.
