Postby Rohan Kubba Dis 4B » Sat Dec 07, 2019 1:22 am

Are all pi bonds in the p-orbital, and if so why?

Yes!
Pi bonds must exist between overlapping p-orbitals

Yes, and also when describing the hybridization of pi bonds they will be the same. Ex. in a triple bond, the descriptions of both pi bonds would be the same and would exist in the p orbital

Yes, because a pi bond requires a plane of symmetry for the bond to form and hold

Yes, because pi bonds are formed by the overlapping of two unhybridized p-orbitals.

Yes because pi bonds are a formation resulting from unhybridized p orbitals.

Pi bonds have to be atomic orbitals, not hybrid orbitals

Pi bonds are unhbyrdizied p orbitals and can also be d orbitals i think

Yes, they are always in the p orbital.

Yes they always exist in p orbitals only!

Yes, that is the definition of a pi bond.
