-ate
I understand that you add -ate to the end of the metal if the compound is charged, so is there anything you do if it is a positive charge rather than a negative?

Re: -ate
You do not have to add anything to positively or neutral charged ones. It is only if it is negatively charged that you add the -ate

Re: -ate
You add -ate to a negatively charged molecule/anions in which you would use their Latin name (ex. Ferrate, Cuprate, etc). You don't need to change anything for a positively charged molecule.
