How do you write the formula for a conjugate base? For example, CH3COOH?

For CH3COOH, the conjugate base would be CH3COO-. To get the formula for the conjugate base, you would take away a hydrogen from the formula of the acid, because a base accepts protons and having a negative charge will allow it to do this.
