K vs Kc

Postby Annie Chantasirivisal_4G » Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:51 pm

So, I understand the distinction between Kp and Kc, one for partial pressure and the other for concentration, but for table 5G.2, what is their difference? How would we know whether to use K or Kc when being referred to it by a textbook problem (such as 5.39)?

I use the Kc for the concentration and treat K as I would for Kp.

I was also confused by this, but I'm assuming that you should use the most specific option. For example, if the question is specifically referring to concentration values, it would be best to use Kc rather than K, because that way you know it's specifically for concentration.
