pH and pOH

If one has the concentration of one or the other, can the other half be found (for example, I know the pH, but with that information can I determine the pOH?)?

Re: pH and pOH

Yes, pH+pOH =14, so this can be used to determine the other if you have either the pH or the pOH.

Re: pH and pOH

If you know the pH, for example pH = 6, then according to the equation pH + pOH = 14 (derived from pKw = pH + pOH) then you would just set pOH = 14 - pH (6) so your pOH would equal 8.

Re: pH and pOH

Yes, pOH + pH = 14 so you can just do a little algebra to rearrange that equation to solve for what you're looking for.

yes! pOH + pH = 14 so you can. just subtract 14 from whichever. concentration you have and you have the other one as well

Yes. Since pH + pOH = 14, you can find either one as long as you have the other.
