Shift Of Reaction
What exactly does it mean for the reaction to shift left or to shift right? does it mean there is more products/reactants at equilibrium or it has to produce more in the direction to reach the same ratio at equilibrium again

Re: Shift Of Reaction
It means that the reaction has to shift towards the reactants or products in order to achieve the same ratio and the same K value.

Re: Shift Of Reaction
K stays constant, so its talking about which side needs to be produced (either reactants or products) in order to reestablish that constant ratio. The only situation where this isn't the case is when K changes entirely, which is only ever due to a change in temperature.
Re: Shift Of Reaction
A reaction shifts left or right in order to reach equilibrium again if something such as concentration or temperature changed.

Re: Shift Of Reaction
You need to establish a ratio that is the same regardless of the amount of product or reactant, so the reaction will occur in whatever direction will achieve this ratio.
