pH and pOH are important to consider when solving acid base equilibria. Because pH=-log[H3O+], if you are given the pH either initially or at equilibrium, you can use than to find the concentration of H3O at that instant. Using this, you can create an ICE table and solve for whatever the question asks. Same goes for basic reactions, just use pOH instead.
